Day 2

I had some good energy this morning. I slept my usual 11-ish to 6:30 and then snoozed til 7, but I didn't feel sluggish at all. I did take another dose of migraine meds and a melatonin before bed to ensure that I did get some sleep. Usually, taking melatonin or any sleep aids makes me groggy in the morning. I even made coffee at home, which is extremely unusual for me. I had another, milder headache this afternoon around 2-3.

Weight: 142.6 lbs

Breffy: 2 hard-boiled eggs, 1/2 oz. brie and 2 cups (1 mug) of coffee with 2 tbsp cream.

Snack: none

Lunch: 4 oz. turkey burger fried in olive oil and balsamic vinagrette with 2 slices of monterey pepper jack cheese (1 oz?) covered in roasted red peppers (about one pepper) and 4 smaller sprigs of asparagus

Snack: 2 celery stalks with 1/4 cup ricotta cheese

Dinner: lobster tail, 6 shrimp, 4 scallops, asparagus and iced tea.

Dessert: two servings of lime jell-o

According to the Atkin's Advantage book, I should be measuring my body as well as my weight. I measured myself this morning and I am 38 1/2, 31 1/2, 37 1/2. That's down at least 1/2 inch from about a month ago when I ordered my cosplay dresses. I'm confident that by July/Con I will be down to 140 or less. Hopefully, that will include a couple inches as well.

Mood-wise, I have been very stable lately. I have noticed that when I eat refined carbs (like last week) my mood is very up and down. On the days when I am really following the Atkin's program, I have not felt the need to take any supplements to alter my mood. This is a very unscientific observation, but I will continue to take note of my emotions while on the program and try to pay close attention to my mood when I get to the next phases that introduce more carbs. It's hard to blame it solely on the carbs since I've never actually been diagnosed with any mood disorder or depression. It could be caused by anything from carbs, sugar spikes, hormones, to changes in the phase of the moon (ie. who the heck knows). However, the Atkin's Advantage book did note that spikes and drops in blood sugar can alter moods, which may have been contributing to my issues. It could also have been the hypothyroidism, which is known to cause depressed moods. I have recently switched from the generic to the brand-name version of Synthroid, which may be helping with the weight loss and mood issues.
