Day 27

I've been maintaining around 140-142 lbs for a week now. Every other day I have been having some refined carbs like bread or pizza. I think I can handle keeping up this part of the diet/live-it (whatever) My parents have been very helpful coming up with new and different ways to incorporate more veggies and less carbs, especially for dinner, which for me is the hardest meal. I think after CON I will celebrate with a steak and mashed potatoes. :D

Day 15

Weight: 141.2

Breffy: none

Lunch: three squares of a chicken bbq pizza/tostado thing. Don't know where it came from, but it's good.

Snack: Mcdonald's cheeseburger patty (I did without the bun) and a choco shake. I needed it after the blood-letting.

Dinner: (updated 6/25: I forget what I had for dinner)

I woke up this morning totally achey and gross feeling. My throat glands were all swollen and white and I had a fever of 100.4.

Thursday, June 16, 2011

Day 14

Weight: 139.8!!

Breffy: none - woke up too late

Lunch: Dunkin Donuts medium iced coffee with cream and an egg and cheese wrap. This was SO not enough for lunch and I was terribly hungry by dinner time.

Weight: 145.4

Breffy: Dunkin Donuts egg and cheese wrap and medium iced coffee with cream

Lunch: avocado and salsa with cucumber and celery

Dinner: Rotisserie chicken with salad

Snack:

I woke up this morning and felt terrible, physically drained and emotionally whirly. I started to cry at work while I was cutting crafts. Part of this may be that I haven't taken any supplements since I started this journey - mostly because I haven't felt the need to, but I may take something today. And I'm committing myself to not eating after "dinner", so no more late night meals. That should help with feeling better in the morning. It's time to do it right!

Day 11

Weight: 144

Breffy: none - woke up too late

Lunch: Chicken burger (spinach and cheese) with roasted red peppers, tomatoes, and artichoke hearts. 1 oz brie.

Dinner: 2 egg omelet with salsa and mozzarella cheese

Snack: celery and ricotta cheese

Late Snack: Frisco melt with cheese fries and a mint cookies n cream shake.

Pitfall Monday night. I woke up Tuesday morning and felt emotionally horrible. I nearly cried at work. I think I really need to stick to "no breads allowed" and see if that makes a differnece. So far I have been maintaining 144/145 lbs. I really need to kick into gear this week if I want to get down to 140.

Weight: 143.4

Breakfast: Egg and cheese wrap from Dunkin Donuts and a medium iced coffee with cream.

Lunch: Queso and salsa with corn chips (totally not on the diet, lol)

Snack: none

Dinner: two pieces of chicken (in that sauce I didn't like) and a salad with the fixin's, no dressing.

Steak n Shake snack: Pepperjack melt with cheese fries and half a key lime shake. This place will kill me. I super need the stress-eating, though.

I am noticing that I do feel psychologically "icky" after eating a lot of sugary things and "too many" refined carbs. It could be a coincidence, but I'll keep an eye out for signs when I eat a lot of carbs.

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

Day 6

Weight: 144.2

Breakfast: Egg and cheese wrap from Dunkin Donuts and a medium iced coffee with cream.

Lunch: 4 oz turkey burger, with 1 roasted red pepper, 4 sprigs of asparagus covered in mozzarella cheese and horseradish.

Dinner:Steak n Shake frisco melt with cheese fries and a strawberry shake.

Snack: celery and peanut butter

I woke up this morning and was really groggy. I drank my coffee at home and still hadn't woken up after my story time at 10:30. I had a pretty decent headache this morning.

I noticed that I've been eating almost the same thing for lunch every day, but I bought a package of asparagus and I want to actually finish it before it rots away in my fridge.

I locked myself out of my house today. I made up for it by going out to Steak n Shake. :(

Monday, June 6, 2011

Day 4

Weight: 142.2

Breffy/Lunch (I slept in): 6 strips of turkey bacon and an iced tea

Snack: 3 celery sticks and about 1/4 cup ricotta cheese

Dinner: 4 oz turkey burger with 1 oz pepper jack cheese, half a roasted red pepper and 5 small sprigs of asparagus.

After work snack: half a chicken quesadilla with guacamole, salsa, sour cream, and spicy ancho chile lime sauce (Hurricane Grill).

Not so bad of a pitfall tonight, but I still should not be having the flour tortilla. I still have a slight headache, but it's not as bad as it has been in the past couple days.

Sunday, June 5, 2011

Day 3

I woke up at 9 with only slight anxiety over my (short) paper that was due today. I wrote it and turned it in by 12. Now the day is mine! :)

Weight: 142.2

(late) Breffy: 2 hard-boiled eggs and 1/2 brie.

Lunch: none

Dinner: Steak n Shake frisco melt with cheese fries and a chocolate shake.

Yes, that was a major pitfall day. It was worth it at the time, but I'll probably have to make up for eating that junk. Strangely enough, when I weighed myself the next morning I was still 142.2.

I should mention, at this point, that I'm also doing the Atkin's diet in the hopes of lowering my triglycerides by eating fewer refined carbohydrates. The upside to this is that I will also lose weight. So, I'm not concerned about "eating junk and putting on weight" so much as I'm concerned that this pitfall will halt the lowering of my triglyceride levels and will probably make it harder to change that number. So, the fewer pitfalls, the better. Especially when they include eating a bunch of refined sugar, potatoes, and breads. It was SO good, though.

Day 2

I had some good energy this morning. I slept my usual 11-ish to 6:30 and then snoozed til 7, but I didn't feel sluggish at all. I did take another dose of migraine meds and a melatonin before bed to ensure that I did get some sleep. Usually, taking melatonin or any sleep aids makes me groggy in the morning. I even made coffee at home, which is extremely unusual for me. I had another, milder headache this afternoon around 2-3.

Weight: 142.6 lbs

Breffy: 2 hard-boiled eggs, 1/2 oz. brie and 2 cups (1 mug) of coffee with 2 tbsp cream.

Snack: none

Lunch: 4 oz. turkey burger fried in olive oil and balsamic vinagrette with 2 slices of monterey pepper jack cheese (1 oz?) covered in roasted red peppers (about one pepper) and 4 smaller sprigs of asparagus

Snack: 2 celery stalks with 1/4 cup ricotta cheese

Dinner: lobster tail, 6 shrimp, 4 scallops, asparagus and iced tea.

Dessert: two servings of lime jell-o

According to the Atkin's Advantage book, I should be measuring my body as well as my weight. I measured myself this morning and I am 38 1/2, 31 1/2, 37 1/2. That's down at least 1/2 inch from about a month ago when I ordered my cosplay dresses. I'm confident that by July/Con I will be down to 140 or less. Hopefully, that will include a couple inches as well.

Mood-wise, I have been very stable lately. I have noticed that when I eat refined carbs (like last week) my mood is very up and down. On the days when I am really following the Atkin's program, I have not felt the need to take any supplements to alter my mood. This is a very unscientific observation, but I will continue to take note of my emotions while on the program and try to pay close attention to my mood when I get to the next phases that introduce more carbs. It's hard to blame it solely on the carbs since I've never actually been diagnosed with any mood disorder or depression. It could be caused by anything from carbs, sugar spikes, hormones, to changes in the phase of the moon (ie. who the heck knows). However, the Atkin's Advantage book did note that spikes and drops in blood sugar can alter moods, which may have been contributing to my issues. It could also have been the hypothyroidism, which is known to cause depressed moods. I have recently switched from the generic to the brand-name version of Synthroid, which may be helping with the weight loss and mood issues.

Day 1

I have been trying out the Atkin's Diet for a month or so - which means I eat fewer refined carbs, and do the real diet for about a day or so and then eat a bunch of pizza or something - and now that Con is coming up soon, I really do need to lose 5-10 more pounds FAST so I'm going to DO IT for realsies.

This morning I weighed in at 144.8 lbs. **I have already lost about 10 lbs from "trying" the Atkin's Diet and about 5 lbs before that from just wishing and hoping. :3

Breakfast: 2 hard-boiled eggs and 3 strips of bacon, one cup coffee with 1 tsp heavy cream.

Snack: none

Lunch: 4 oz. turkey patty (seasoned) and 5 asparagus sprigs (I'm so bad at counting carbs, I don't even try.), Lime Jell-o (I can eat as much as I want), 1 small slice of Monterey Jack cheese (way less than an ounce) and one tsp of peanut butter.

Snack: 1/4 cup of peanut butter (probably) and 2 whole sticks of celery.

Dinner: 1 breast Chicken Caprice with artichokes and tomoatoes and a small side salad with tomatoes and cucumber, no dressing.

Feelings: Started out good - up-beat mood and decent energy. A bit sluggish around 3-4 when a massive headache set in - not quite a migraine, but it seemed to be triggered from clenching my shoulders. Only slightly better after snack. It could have been from not drinking enough or from refined carb withdrawal since I ate a bunch of pizza the day before.
